Additional Bob Owen Transcripts

Scope and Content

This collection consists of material transcribed by Bob Owen Croesor from originals held in the Public Record Office. It includes transcripts of Star Chamber proceedings for counties Caernarfonshire, Merioneth and Denbighshire for the years ca. 1558-1625; transcripts of lay subsidy rolls for Eifionydd, Caernarfonshire, dated 1628 and hearth tax roll for Ardudwy, Merioneth, dated 1662. Also contains transcripts of wills for Caernarfonshire and Merioneth, dated 1527-1691.

Administrative / Biographical History

Robert Owen (1885-1962), better known as Bob Owen Croesor of Llanfrothen in Merioneth, was a quarry worker at Croesor, an antiquary, book-collector, radio broadcaster and lecturer with the Workers Educational Association.
