Sent to Dora while she was in Ternitz [Austria], regarding the length of Barbara's letters, the weather and the landscape, writing while Gershom gives the other children Sunday School, kittens, Ethel's wedding and sailing to South Africa, a potential 'girl' called Martha, seeing sketches Gershom made while he was away some of which had been framed to appear in an exhibition at the Alpine Club, Barbara making Christmas cards, encouragement to exercise and to 'keep up the character of English girls who are always said to be so active', and hearing from her Aunt Marie that all is well.
