Volume of Churchwardens' Accounts.

Scope and Content

From 1808 the accounts include lists of

persons paying church rates, and from

1845 there are separate accounts for the

parish charities.

Miscellaneous items recorded in the

volume include:

(1) A memorandum concerning parish

property at Charlton on Otmoor,

[fol. 1].

(2) Copy of a lease of the above to The

Queen's College, 1797 [fol. 226v

rev.].

(3) Notes of `overplus' and

`deficiencies' in collections of land

tax in the parish, 1783-1817 [fol. 2].

(4) Accounts of a fund raised to pay the

costs of a lawsuit against All Souls

College concerning land tax, and the

attorneys' receipts for their fees,

1804-1806 [fol. 35].

(5) Memoranda relating to the church

fabric, the churchyard and charities,

1852 [fols. 46 & 119].

(6) Accounts of a fund raised by

subscription to pay for trees and work

in the churchyard, 1867 [fol. 198].

(7) An Accountant's report on sums

withheld by a churchwarden, 1887-1892

(8) A plan of the church seating by W.J.

(9) Notes by Carter on parish events

during his years in office as parish
