Scope and Content

A continuation from the previous file of Typescript 1 (heavily revised by hand throughout), as follows:

1. Chapters 8 and 9, numbered: 125F-G, 113-114, 126-127, 129-138, 139-146, 146 (a second sheet with this number)-164.

2. Chapters 10 and 11, numbered: 165-181, 182-196, 196A-B (both autograph), 197-198.

3. Chapter 12 (chapter 11 in the published text), numbered: 199-216. Chapter 13 (chapter 12 in the published text), beginning on 216 and numbered thereafter: 217-226, 227A (autograph), 227-228, sheet without number beginning 'The logic of what', 230-231, 229, composite sheet including 232, sheet without number beginning 'Fifty yards away', 235-237.

4. Chapter 14 (chapter 13 in the published text), beginning on 237 and numbered thereafter: 238, 238A-G (autograph and typescript), 240-253. Chapter 15 (chapter 14 in the published text), beginning on 253 and numbered thereafter 254-270.

5. Chapter 16 (chapter 15 in the published text), beginning on 270 and numbered thereafter 271-281. Chapter 17 (chapter 16 in the published text), beginning on 281 and numbered thereafter 282-303.

6. Chapter 18 (chapter 17 in the published text), beginning on 303 and numbered thereafter 304-315. Chapter 19 (chapter 18 in the published text), numbered 316-329. A second chapter designated Chapter 18 (chapter 19 in the published text), numbered 330-339.

Very occasionally, a numbered sheet is a composite of two or more sheets stapled together (e.g. 125F, and 238A) - to maintain the integrity of the text, the small staples used have been left in situ.
