Photographs of Car Crash

Scope and Content

A set of sixteen black and white photographs (labelled A-P) of a car crash that Ballard had on Chiswick Bridge with accompanying negatives (six strips in total). The series of photographs shows the damage done to Ballard's Ford Zephyr 6 car.

Twelve of the photographs (labelled A-L) were used in the poster produced for the exhibition, 'Crash: Homage to J G Ballard', which was held at the Gagosian Gallery in 2010.

The original cardboard envelopes that held the photographs and negatives, and related enclosures have been retained. The pencil annotation 'Daddy's Zephyr 6 car' was added by one of Ballard's daughters.
