The registers contain the serial number of the case, date of the hearing, name of informant or complainant and district of residence; name of the defendant and age if under 16 years; nature of offence; where offence was committed; date of offence; adjudication and the names of the justices adjudicating. After 1916 changes were made in the format to include the age of defendant if known; plea; and time allowed for payment but district of residence for complainant and defendant were discontinued

Administrative / Biographical History
From December 1933 juvenile courts were established and these courts maintained separate registers, for which see sections 3 and 4 below. From October 1954 the format of the register was that authorised by the Magistrates Court Rules 1952, rule 54.
