My dear Faithfull, Do you think you can get a £1 or two in your neighbourhood for the expenses of the Protest. Olive wld I doubt not help. You can send it direct to Rupert as I have done from here. I was glad to see at Aurial Davies & your daughter so very happy tog? Mr Beshus & my Deffy have contracted to be happy in each other I think - their first happiness being in our one Lord & Sav. Yours affect E Bickersteth.

Written from Walton Rectory, Ware. Opposite side of letter in the envelope. Addressed to The Rev. FJ Faithfull, Rectory Hatfield. Postage mark is dated to 26 Nov 1844. Red, one-penny postage stamp with Queen Victoria's head on it. Wax seal also, two letters, initials.
