My dear Faithfull, I was very sorry to see in the papers an announcement of your retirement & still more sorry to see the reason given for it. I hope, however, that you are really not giving in, but that you are only taking advantage of some temporary illness to escape from the drudgery of office life. How time passes & how [scatter] we.
