Scope and Content

Dear Miss Faithfull, From all I know of you, I feel sure I need not be afraid to write to you and to ask you to write to me - I long to know about those dear children, I long to know how Nora is, how they all are, and how they bear their great honour - I was thankful when I heard you were to be with them - How happy it must make you, to feel how much of a comfort you were for so many years to the beloved friend, who needs for neither our prayers, nor our presence, nor anything from us - The very mention of your name brings her to my mind, she constantly spoke of you, and loved you and trusted you so much - If you should tell me anything you can about her, you should confer on me a kindness which I should never forget - Believe me dear Miss Faithfull

Yours very truly Grisell Baillie.
