Scope and Content

COPY LETTER: Robert Jones, Chapel St, Amlwch to E.R. Evans & Co., London informing them that Captain Thomas arrived at Cardiff last week and he is forwarding the survey etc. He will send the bills and accounts of the sale later. The copy of sale has been sent to Cardiff for translation. He also finds that a court was held at Natal and the captain acquitted of all blame. He wrote to the captain for a copy of the court's report and the Consul had sent all depositions and reports to the Board of Trade by Mail Steamer "Bahia" which was run down and lost. The Consul was too busy to supply the captain with a copy so he had to leave or lose the mail. He is sorry the sale realized so little; the wreck only fetched about £14. He was told that the mate of the "Lord Tredegar" was on board the "Bahia" when it got run into and he was for 9 hours on a plank before he was picked up. He hopes to be able to send them all the accounts in a few days and asks for a cheque on account.
