Scope and Content

COPY OF LETTER: R. Jones, Chapel St., Amlwch to E.R. Evans & Co., 5 Philpot Lane, London. He sent a copy to them this morning of telegram received from Captain Thomas, "Lord Tredegar", Natal, Brasil as follows: Sinecure sagacious option. He failed to find the word option in the book, and asked them to explain its meaning. He very much regrets that she is lost as she was a very fine vessel - one that he had bought for himself to sail and would have rejoined her on her way home. The last news he got from Pernambuco was that the vessel was ready to leave the next day for Rio Grande to load for U.K. States and he learnt from today's paper that she was bound for New York. It is a great loss to him as she is about £500 in debt and that is why he reduced the insurance last January.
