Scope and Content

COPY LETTER: Robert Jones, Amlwch to Captain J. Thomas, Bryngwyn, Moylegrove via Cardigan. He received his letter and notes the contents. He is sorry that Captain Thomas is not well and hopes he will soon be right again. He states that he is willing to pay half the expenses of the court at Pernambuco and Captain Thomas need not supply to the Board of Trade for the voucher if it means any expense. He refers to the letter in which Captain Thomas mentioned that the Consul advised him to take the men back on board and he refused, and insisted on having them tried by Naval Court. Also that they would desert if he would forfeit their wages which would certainly be better than spending £15.16s.8d. for court expenses. Asks what satisfaction was it to punish the men.
