Scope and Content

COPY LETTER: K.H. Hughes to F.R. Bird Swansea. He discussed the matter of relinquishing his position and managing director with Mr. George Williams on his visit to the shipyard last Saturday, and Mr. Williams suggested the 31st October as a tentative date. He declares that he possesses no private capital other than the original outlay which was sunk into the shpyard upon the opening of it two years ago. He therefore asks to be allowed to carry on with the company unti it is possible for his interest to be bought out when he will then be in a position to leave Amlwch altogether. He asks this so that he does not have to apply for unemployment relief in Amlwch as Amlwch being a small community it would undoubtedly lead to embarrassment ot himself and the company. He trusts that the letter does not give offence, and that it reads in the spirit that it is written. It is a frank and honest statement of his affairs.
