Scope and Content

Notes on the inside of the front cover indicate that the volume was acquired by the Manchester Medical Society in 1863 and was subsequently allocated the reference number GO 19 viz. their 1890 library catalogue. Stamped on the first page are also the details 'John G. Harrison M.R.C.S.L., Manchester, surgeon, 27 Piccadilly'. A bookplate describes the volume as 'Notes of a Course of Lectures on Surgery delivered by Sir Astley P. Cooper A.D. 1810 and recopied by John G. Harrison, A.D. 1827. Published by S Highley, Webb Street, Maze Pond, Boro' & 174 Fleet Street, London'. The volume is indexed and foliated with the lecture notes having the original foliation ff.1-141, ff.142-146 being blank, and the index being found on ff.147-148.

On the inside of the back cover there is a colour illustration by Harrison entitled 'Dissection of an arm on which the operation for the aneurysm had been performed'.
