Anatomical Lectures by H Cline sen, H Cline jun & Astley Cooper

Scope and Content

Each of the three volumes bears the bookplate of the Manchester Medical Society which indicates that it was donated to them by Thomas Windsor on 16 February 1878 and further inscriptions on the inside cover indicate that they were all subsequently allocated the reference number GO 4078 viz. their 1890 library catalogue. The series of lectures was taught jointly by Henry Cline senior, Henry Cline junior, and Sir Astley Cooper, and it is indicated at the beginning of each lecture who the lecturer is. The lectures are clearly numbered and dated but there is sometimes more than one date. They initially run from 1808 through to 1809 but there are then additional dates from c.1812 which along with the many additional notes and marginalia suggest that Windsor attended this course of lectures more than once over the several years he spent studying in London and added to his original notes.
