Papers of Rev. Daniel Williams, Hen Golwyn

The collection has been divided into nine sections under the headings : Eisteddfod essays, lectures and articles, note books, poetry, sermons, publications, diaries, correspondence and miscellaneous. The subjects of the Eisteddfod essays are wide-ranging - from drama in Wales to a psychological study of Lewis Morris of Anglesey. The lectures and articles are also written on a variety of subjects, from the Tudors to Ann Griffiths, the hymn writer and also consist of two short plays. The note books contain references to books and other sources. The diaries date from 1950-1951, 1953-1962 and contain details such as preaching engagements. The letters are addressed to Daniel Williams, apart from three which are from a James E. Thomas, son of Eben Fardd to a Mathew Hughes, 1858-1860. The miscellaneous section also contains an item relating to James E. Thomas, a diary of his dating from 1855 - 1860. Also, the!re are notes and articles by Daniel Williams and others.

The Rev. Daniel Williams was a Wesleyan minister, writer and an eisteddfodwr. He died on 17 March 1968.

The papers have been arranged according to type and are to be found amongst the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts.
