Court of Great Sessions. The Court of Great Sessions was established by the Second Act of Union in 1543 which brought Wales fully under English law. The counties of Brecon, Glamorgan and Radnor made up the Brecon circuit. Sessions were held twice yearly in each county, hearing civil actions and functioning as a criminal court. The Court was abolished in 1830 when the whole of Wales was divided into assize circuits.
