INSPECTION REPORT:

Scope and Content

of the lower section of the G.O.Tramway following the fatal accident that had occurred on 23 Aug 1932. Mentions that on that occasion the emergency brake prescribed by the Board of Trade regulations had been removed, with the result that when the drawbar which connected the cable to one of the cars failed, the brakes were unable to hold the tram on the steep gradient. As a result of the claims for damages, the Company had to go into liquidation, and the liquidator had been authorised to try to get the tramway working again in order to sell it as a going concern.
