Scope and Content

Correspondence form R.White & Sons, Widnes, Lancs., contracting engineers to Alfred G. Pugh, secretary to G.O.T. Also includes some copy replies to White & Sons and letters from A.F. Fowler, Liverpool (consultant engineer to White & Sons.)

The difficult working relationship between the Directors, their engineer, the contractors and their consulting engineer, continues to be demonstrated. By early 1903 the Directors appear to finally accept that their engineer is a major problem and replace him with Mr. Aitchison from Llanberis.

There are numerous complaints from White & Sons that the cars are being seriously overloaded and the speed at which they are run is excessive; that the quality of fuel used is very poor and that due payments are endlessly delayed. White & Sons offer to buy the Directors out, pending full details of the company and its liabilites.
