Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Evans and Short were established in [1862] by George Evans and William Charles Short. They had two shops one in Tonypandy and one in Treorchy. In 1905 the partnership was dissolved. George Evans continued to trade at the Tonypandy premises keeping the original name of Evans and Short. William Short continued to trade at the Treorchy premises under the name of Short and Co.
George Oliver Footwear Ltd was established in Leicester but had branches throughout Wales and South West England.
