Papers of William Roberts, Glynllifon

Scope and Content

This collection consists of the diaries of William Roberts who worked as gardener at the Glynllifon estate. They range over a period of 43 years, from 1866 to 1909 and contain mainly a record of the author's daily round of horticultural duties, with observations on the weather and thermometer readings. He occasionally refers to local events and activities such as preaching and literary meetings, lectures, concerts and eisteddfodau at Tynlon, Pen-y-groes or Brynrodyn, deaths, funerals and the comings and goings of various members of the Wynn family of Glynllifon.

William Roberts fl. 1886-1909, was gardener and nurseryman at the Glynllifon estate, near Caernarfon, Gwynedd.
