Scope and Content

Bundle of miscellaneous correspondence and papers relating to education issues. Includes: rough drafts of a speech about universities, perhaps intended for broadcast (a copy of the final version is included with other BBC papers in COX4/11); news cuttings, photocopied articles and a press release relating to education, including the Quadrant Conference; the text of a talk by Cox entitled 'Sixth Form Crisis', delivered to the Annual Conference of the Conservative National Advisory Committee on Education (/3); miscellaneous letters sent to Cox or Rhodes Boyson on education-related topics; a typescript essay by Cara Mandeville about teacher training; and papers relating to a series of lectures on Rhetoric by Philip Hobsbaum (/16).

/17-29 consists of correspondence and papers dating from 1983-4, largely relating to the Conservative Education Policy Group and associated issues, including 16+ examinations. Includes correspondence with William Waldegrave, copy letters from Stuart Sexton and Oliver Letwin, correspondence with the Centre for Policy Studies, and a letter from Nigel Ashford.
