Administrative / Biographical History

William Fred Dowdall was born in Aldershot in 1915 and served as a constable in the Metropolitan Police between 1935 and 1936. He joined the Cardiff City Police as a police constable on 17 April 1936. He married Dorothy Bailey from Conway Road, Cardiff in 1938 and they had one son. William Dowdall died in a bicycle accident, whilst on duty on 4 August 1941.
