Samuel Wood (Chester) to Sir John Trevor (Little St Bartholomew's, London): refers to a comparison they have made between the measures used for coal in Newcastle and in Wales and Lancashire by which they found the Lancashire measure exceeded the Newcastle one by a quarter and what they have done in obedience to recipient's directions since then, including citing the owners of 6 Liverpool barques and one from Hilbre to appear before the Court of Admiralty (with a list of the charges made against them); both sides are now considering a negotiated settlement to avoid the very high costs of going to court and the writer seeks directions about this.
