Administrative / Biographical History

In 1890, the Converts’ Training Home – Anderson Home was built through a gift in memory of Mrs Anderson. In 1892, it was enlarged under Miss E. J. Fallon after she raised funds in memory of Sir William Muir’s wife. Sir William had been Lieutenant-Governor of the North Western Province and was an officer of ZBMM as well as founder of the North India Tract Society. The extended buildings became known as the Lady Muir Memorial Home for Converts. Converts came from many stations and various Missions. The Home was closed in 1939 and the few remaining residents moved to Varanasi (Banares).
