Scope and Content

(i) Expressing his appreciation for Crossley's testimonial in support of Edwards' application for the position as Librarian to the corporation of London. Edwards was unsuccessful in that case, but he requests Crossley to send another testimonial in support of his application for the position as Librarian of the London Institution. He includes a postscript mentioning that he had been summoned by the town council of Doncaster to assist in organising a Free Library under the Act of Parliament. 19 Feb 1870.

(ii) Expressing his thanks to Crossley for providing a testimonial, the decision on the appointment is adjourned until a day in April. In gratitude, Edwards sends a copy of his book, Lives of the Founders of the British Museum (1870). 12 Mar 1870.
