T.B.R. Westgate Collection on German East Africa

A collection of loose prints, lantern slides and glass negatives. The prints mostly relate to Westgate's earlier work, but there are a few from the 1930s, including nos. 426-454 of visits to South Africa and African islands, all processed in February 1936. Many of the lantern slides and glass negatives are uncaptioned and undated.

Thomas Buchanan Reginald Westgate was a Canadian missionary who joined the Church Missionary Society in German East Africa in 1902. During World War I he was imprisoned by the Germans and after his release returned to Canada. He revisited East Africa in the 1930s.

Unless restrictions apply, the collection is open for consultation by researchers using the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library.
