Administrative/Biographical History

Louis Cohen (also known as Lewis, Loo or Lew Coen) wrote a number of short dramatic plays and historical sketches including The Widow Capet , The Drummer of the 76th and Marshal Ney . He was a member of the National Sporting Club, Covent Garden, London where a number of his works were performed. His works were also performed in London and provincial theatres in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of the newscuttings in the collection refers to him as "a pioneer of the gold industry in South Africa".
