Administrative / Biographical History
Willie James first became a member of the South Wales Miners' Federation aged 13 and from then until about 1940 was active in Labour politics. He was involved with the Bedwellty Guardians in the 1920s.
Willie James was Secretary of the Relief Committee at New Tredegar in 1921 and 1926. He was Secretary of the Monmouthshire Federation of Trades and Labour Councils. From around 1938 until about 1943 Willie James was also the first Secretary of the Monmouthshire Federation of Old Age Pensioners.
