Minute books

Scope and Content

As well as brief minutes from the quarterly meetings, this volume covers the additional meetings that were called as a result of the proposed dissolving of the Ancient Order of Shepherds and the need for a new name for the order. This volume has many loose papers inserted in it, including an official proposal from 1905 that the society should be dissolved, copies of letters written to the registrar seeking advice as what to do with the funds accumulated between 1905 and 1912 (transition period), and how to combine National Insurance rates into the contributions made. There are also rough minutes on loose sheets that were later copied into the book.

The volume ends with a description of the events that occurred at the 'special' meeting held in December 1912, where it was decided that the funds should be divided equally between the forty members to complete the winding up of the Ancient Order of Shepherds.
