Autograph letter, signed, 3+pp. 4to.
From LA Simond [Swiss historian?]. In English, with address to 'Miss Smith, 36 Upper Seymour Street, London,' and gray initial seal, dated Geneva, 18 Dec 1826. Letter must have been to an aunt of Barbara Bodichon. About the Cunninghams, his book on Italy, which he asks her to approach Mr Murray about publishing [John Murray II (1778-1843)], even though Murray reprinted his book on Switzerland without consulting him. He lives in the country, sees Mrs. Marcet often. Her son has gone to Greece with 'young Romilly.' He rejoices in William Smith's easy return to Parliament for Norwich. 'The Sismondis are returned.' [JCL Simonde de Sismondi (1773-1842), Swiss historian.]
