8 Feb . Autograph letter, signed, 2pp. 8vo, 3 Victoria Street SW.
'Dear Madam Bodichon, Thank you so much for your kindness' in arranging a visit for North to 'Mrs Lewes' [Mary Ann Evans, 'George Eliot'] to show her 'a few old paintings.' North had sketched in many foreign lands and painted from the drawings when back in London. The cold has made her 'a damp unwholesome body,' and she intends to 'keep by the fire & scribble about warmer places.' 'Ever yours affectionately '
