Administrative / Biographical History

The Ecology Party was founded in 1973 as the People Party, to act as an alternative political party concerned with environmental issues as opposed to economic growth. The People Party contested the 1974 General Election with six candidates; in local elections in 1976 two Ecology Party candidates were successful.
