Photographic prints of 49 Princes Gate, Westminster, London (original photographs by Bedford Lemere, 1892), made for Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, National Monuments Record 1968.

Administrative / Biographical History

Bedford Lemere & Co was established in the mid-1860s at 147 the Strand, London, England, by Bedford Lemere senior (1839-1910 ), where it remained until 1946 . Henry Bedford Lemere was born in 1865 and effectively took over the running of the business during the 1880s , by which time the architectural specialisation of the firm had already been formulated. The company remained the leading purveyor of domestic, commercial and industrial images until his death in 1944 . The company moved to 3 Park Lane, Croydon from 1947-1957 and South Park Hill Road, South Croydon from 1957 .
