Scope and Content

Rough lino print in dark brown ink of George Bernard Shaw in profile, a man with a beard and moustache, holding a pair of spectacles. Upper body only, within a rectangular border also printed roughly in dark brown. The print is on very delicate cream tissue paper which is glued at the edges on cream paper backing. On the reverse of the backing paper are three quick pencil sketches of birds in flight. The print is signed.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Fragile. Tissue paper and backing paper yellowed. Tissue paper creased top left, centre, bottom right. Tissue paper torn along edges. Reverse has dark pencil swmudges where it has rubbed against another document. Very delicate but stable. Production method: hand printed with a linocut, on tissue paper, pasted onto backing paper.
