Manuscript letter opening with discussion regarding the content of the latest editions of Robert Owen's Journal.

Travis informs Owen he has received an invite to travel with the Marchioness of Donegal and her son the Earl of Belfast which has left him "rather disturbed". He admits the journey could lead to something "useful, but is hesitant about leaving Owen and his work for any length of time.

The letter closes with Travis referring to an article from The Times on the subject of the formation of a new Socialist Party in America.
