Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Travis explains nothing in the newspapers regarding the petition which was presented [to the House of Commons] by the Duke of Newcastle. Travis fears the petition will do little good but at least it will keep the subject from being forgotten.

Owen is asked if he liked "the clergymans" book on the spirits, which, it appears, disputes Owen view that all spirits "are against existing religion and ministers" and suggests instead that "the spirits seem to be very much in the mind or ways of the mediums".
