In this manuscript letter marked 'private', Jones makes an impassioned plea for Owen's help in paying a debt of £11. Can Owen not "save him from this peril" he asks, before pleading "for Gods' sake lend it me - or I am ruined". He explains he dare not go to his office [for fear of arrest].
