Letter from M. D. Fretageot to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Fretageot asks Owen what provision has been made, or will be made, for the children of those who will live at his "new Empire [New Harmony, Indiana]". The questions are posed to enable her to give Mr [William] MacLure as many details as possible on Owen's "interesting new world"; writes of being a "proselite" to Owen's views and asks Owen if this makes him proud.

Fretageot closes by writing of her admiration of MacLure, as he is influenced by both her own and Owen's [views on education].
