Letter from Thomas Whitaker to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Owen of the decision taken by delegates from the 1st Western Union (1st Western Society, 2nd Tailors Society and 1st Community) following its meeting at the Western Co-operative Institute, 50 Poland Street, London. Namely, that, in accordance with the directions of Resolution of the 2nd Congress, the delegates of the 1st Western Union "formed themselves into an auxiliary missionary council for propagating co-operative knowledge".

The letter concludes with the correspondent, as Secretary of the 1st Western Union, inviting Owen on behalf of the committee to attend its next party on Monday, 28 November 1831.
