Letter from W H Sturges to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter in which Stuges is writing to Owen in his capacity as Editor of The Crisis. He says that he wants to show readers of The Crisis that a Republican government is no better than a limited monarchy. Sturges then quotes from an article in the New York Mercantile Advertiser. He then talks about how best to prevent repetition of crime. He says that the happiness of a nation does not depend upon its form but on its system of government. Sturges says that the only system that will work is a social and co-operative system.
