Letter from William Pare to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter, William Pare tells Owen that he has no faith in the current government but is hopeful that Robert Peel will help their cause. He said that Owen should write directly to the Lord Lieutenant if he wishes to receive a reply from him. He states that in many circles it is said that Mr William Somerville is by no means equal to the office of Chief Secretary and that he will be withdrawing his subscription to the Anti Gold Law League, after hearing of the treatment Owen received.

Pare notes that he has just moved into his new house, and asks Owen to send his regards to the Allsops and Mrs Bugdin.
