Letter from Geo[rge] Davis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter, in which Davis makes a complaint regarding the rule which states, that if a child does not reside within 1 mile of the school then a payment of £30 per year must be made to send the child to "Day School". Davis frames his complaints against the background of the support Owen and his contemporaries garnered for their their ideas and schemes from the Working Classes. He believes that an inability to pay the £30 will result in the "most useful members [the Working Class]...have to send their offspring to those paltry schools of old society to imbibe those prejudices".
