Letter from W. H. Ashurst to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter in which Ashurst forwards thanks from a Russian patriot named Herzen [Alexander Herzen ?] to whom Owen sent a volume of his memoirs. Herzen's thoughts on Owen, as written here by Ashurst, are that "mankind will not recognise the wisdom and greatness of your (Owen's) principles, character and career until 50 years after you are in your grave" and that Owen is "one of the greatest men this country has ever produced".
