Letter from C G. Allhusen to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

The main focus of this manuscript letter is a response to Owen's criticisms of Allhusen's (and those of St. Simon and Charles Fourier) convictions and writings. Allhusen points Owen to sections No.3 and No.5 of the "People's League" in response to specific censure of his beliefs and offers in-depth reasoning for his thoughts and convictions, before following this with discussion of the influence of nature over the character of man and a critical analysis of Spiritualism.

Owen expressed a wish that Allhusen visit him, but Allhusen states that "his time allows, but not my purse", adding that "he will come and stay with you a month, if you will fund me".
