In a short manuscript note Howe explains that he is sending Owen a legal document which he found following the death of Samuel Robinson. Howe states that he found it inside a letter from Robert Dale Owen requesting him to forward the document to Owen.
Howe closes the letter by noting that Robinson, who died on the 16 March, must have misplaced the letter else he would have posted it a while ago.
The legal document confirms the appointment of John Steer, Barrister of Chancery Lane, London with the Trustees of Jane Dale Owen to execute a discharge of a certain bond given to the Trustees by Robert Owen & Co of New Lanark. The document is signed by a number of individuals including Noah Noble, the 5th Governor of the State of Indiana.
