Letter from Philip Orkney Skene to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter in which Skene says that he has heard from Mr Saull that Owen may be meeting with some friends of the New Views. He also talks about the advancement of the co-operators at West Street and Hurst and that he attended one of their meetings at which they elected a housekeeper for Hurst, where there are already five members employed. Skene says that Saull wanted to address the meeting but Skene feared his views may be considered over zealous. He also says that in the meetings religious views are not talked about as they distract from the New Views.
