Letter from Geo. A. Fleming to Robert Owen

Archive Unit

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter opening with Fleming writing he believes the recent progress (of the Birmingham branch of the Association of All Classes of All Nations) has been "much crippled" due to their inability in finding a room for the public to retire to after hearing lectures; he hopes to have further updates on this matter soon.

Reference is made to the progress being made in Scotland by the social missionary Alexander Campbell, with Fleming writing that he has "broken ground" in Edin[burgh] and Leith and will soon move onto Dundee. Fleming himself will be going to Bilston [West Midlands] the following week to open "institution" No.1 [in the Birmingham area which is under his control]; remarks he will not be happy until there are "two 00's added to it".
