Letter from R. Crampton to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

This manuscript letter opens with Crampton writing of his dedication to Owen's ideas and actions in the "cause of truth", but his lack of rank and position within society have, up until this point, denied him the opportunity of acting on this dedication.

Crampton explains an opportunity may soon arise for him to devote his all for the good of mankind through what is currently considered by many to be impracticable, namely " Perpetual Motion". Comprehensive details of Crampton's plan for the use of 'Perpetual Motion' follow.

Crampton closes by writing of a recent episode which occurred whilst he worked (as a dentist); a patient when hearing of Crampton's interest in Owen's "system" was so enraged he declared "that man is the Devil himself".
