Letter from [Ms] J. Woollatt to Robert Owen

Archive Unit

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter: [Ms] Woollatt reminds Owen of a conversation they had when they last met, referring to his expressed intention of founding a new public institution, and his wish to establish her in the position as matron. Since their meeting Woollatt has heard nothing further on the potential venture, either from Owen or through an intermediary, and asks Owen to clarify his intent.

In general, she wishes to change her present circumstances and asks Owen, if he no longer intends to create a new public institution, whether he knows of any individuals or families that might require a traveling companion.
